After attending Mexico City’s Tec de Monterrey (B.A. in Communication, graduated with honors in 2002) and a summer course in documentary filmmaking at the EICTV in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Alonso has been working as a Cinematographer for the better part of this century.
His career in advertising began in 2006, shooting his first TV spots, using high definition cameras. In 2007 he traveled to Milan, Italy, to work in his first feature film “I Migliori Sentimenti” (The Best of Feelings) with director Marcos Villaseñor.
In 2008 he started Contenido Neto Producciones S.A. de C.V. with director Marcos Villaseñor and producer Corinna Martinez. During his run as cinematographer and partner in Contenido Neto he has photographed advertising for some of Mexico’s top brands, including Banamex, Marinela, El Universal, Cinepolis, BBVA Bancomer, Teletón, Samsung, All-Bran, Alka-Seltzer, Downy, P&G, Bimbo, FedEx, Apodefil, Mars, Fisher Price, Power Wheels, Vidamil, Banamex, Tequila Domeq, Vidamil, Mi Escuelita, SARE, Mazola and several government agencies.
He has also made a name for himself in the music industry, shooting some of the most important Spanish language music videos of the last three years, working for artists like Gloria Trevi, Los Temerarios, OV7, Yuridia, Noel Schajris, Lila Downs, Reik, Jesse & Joy and Camila. His cinematography has been associated both with beauty shoots and an intriguing style, full of color, contrast and dramatic highlights and shadows.
He has also photographed many short films and documentaries, including work with Televisa Producer Juan Osorio, director and editor Roberto Bolado and many others.
He has worked in projects with high technical requirements, including high-speed cinematography, stop motion and special effects intensive shoots. He was also invited to attend the Cineagear Expo in Los Angeles, California, by one of Mexico’s top equipment rental houses.
